Young Lawyers Division Raises Nearly $15,000 at the Comedy NightPHILADELPHIA The Young Lawyers Division of the Philadelphia Bar Association raised nearly $15,000 while Anton Shuford, a Philadelphia comedian, and Christian Finnegan, a stand-up comedian and regular panelist for VH1s Best Week Ever, were filling the Academy of Natural Sciences with laughter during the Comedy Night on Saturday, May 6.
More than 200 attendees enjoyed the night of comedy, dancing, open bar, hors doeuvres and a large silent auction with more than 70 items ranging from entertainment tickets to vacation packages.
We are thrilled that we were able to put on such a successful and fun event for such a great cause, said Brian S. Chacker, the Chair of the event.
The money raised will support the Philadelphia Bar Foundation a charitable arm of the Bar Association, supporting legal agencies that assist the indigent, elderly and disabled, as well as abused women and children.
The YLD Comedy Night is a part of an annual goal to raise money for the Philadelphia Bar Foundation, whose mission is to promote justice for all people in the community, particularly those struggling with poverty, abuse and discrimination. That mission is accomplished by providing grants and technical assistance in support of quality legal services, addressing unmet legal needs and providing education on matters of public interest.
